When you choose our hardwood flooring installation services, here's what you can expect:
Our process begins with an initial consultation where we discuss your preferences, budget, and any specific design ideas you have in mind. We'll also assess your space to determine the best type of hardwood flooring and installation method.
We'll take precise measurements of the area where the hardwood flooring will be installed. This step is crucial to ensure a perfect fit and minimize waste. We'll also assess the condition of your subfloor to identify any necessary repairs or preparations.
Based on your preferences and budget, we'll help you choose the right hardwood for your space. We offer a wide range of options to match your style and needs.
Before installation, we'll make sure your subfloor is level, dry, and clean. If needed, we'll perform any necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure a solid foundation for your new hardwood floor.
Depending on your preference and the type of hardwood, we'll use either a nail-down, glue-down, or floating installation method. Our skilled craftsmen will meticulously lay down each plank, ensuring a precise fit and proper spacing for expansion.
After installation, we'll carefully sand the floor to create a smooth and even surface. You'll have the option to choose a stain for a specific color or simply apply a protective finish to enhance the natural beauty of the wood.
Some will choose to keep the natural color of the wood floor, and some will want to choose a stain color to complement other aspects of the interior design and enhance the natural beauty of the wood. Several factors can affect the finished color including age, condition, and species of wood. Our knowledge and experience can help you get the color you want.
The final step of the process involves applying protective finishes to your hardwood floors. These finishes serve as a shield against daily wear and tear while enhancing the floor's appearance. We prefer commercial-grade water-based finishes, which are durable, environmentally friendly, and provide a lasting shine. We apply a sealer to improve the bond between the wood and the polyurethane and to help prevent panelization; the separation of groups of boards from others or from the rest of the floor. Once the last coat of polyurethane is dry, you can walk on it. Once it cures for about 24 hours, you can replace furniture. After 72 hours, you can replace rugs.
Once you have your beautiful new wood floors, proper maintenance is simple. We recommend cleaning with Bona products and avoiding waxes and oil soaps, as they can build up and dull the finish, and prevent future recoats from adhering.
"Horst Hardwood does fantastic work. Our 90-year-old oak and pine floors in our recently-purchased home had been under carpet for 40+ years and had even been painted over at one point. He cleaned them up, sanded them down, stained them a fantastic color, and finished them with several satin polyurethane coats. The grain came out in amazing ways and the floors look fantastic. They're the best part of the house." - Theo C.
"We would highly recommend Todd! He did an amazing job, which included the installation of new hardwood floors on our first floor in addition to refinishing our existing ones, and made them all flow seamlessly. We are so happy with the results!" - Leanne T.
